Charlotte Freida Burlile, 99, of Boise, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017. She was born August 1, 1918 to Emil Oskar and Martha Freida (Neumann) Messerschmidt in Dresden, Germany. Her family immigrated to the United States where Charlotte had fond memories of her childhood in Ferndale, Michigan until her family returned to Germany.

Charlotte returned to the United States in the early 1950’s residing in Texas, Colorado, Nevada, and Idaho, she officially became a U.S. citizen on June 6, 1960. Charlotte married Claude Burlile on Christmas Eve of 1973. Claude passed away the same date, August 20, eleven years prior in 2006.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and baking.

Charlotte is survived by one son, Lothar Messerschmidt, of Kempen Germany; a granddaughter, Judith (Uwe) Speckman, of Tarpon Springs, FL; a brother, Elmer “Sonny” (Edna) Messerschmidt, of Decatur, GA; a sister-in-law, Sharon Messerschmidt of Mechanicsburg, PA, and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 6-7 PM at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10^th Avenue South, Nampa, Idaho 83651.
