June Lanore Pederson, 93, of Nampa, Idaho, died on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at a Nampa hospital.

June was born June 1, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Axel and Iva Beatrice (Warn) Hansen. She was raised in Minneapolis until she moved to Washington D.C. to work as a government employee during World War II. She subsequently moved to San Francisco, California, where she met her future husband, Bernt Severin Pederson. They were married in Redwood City, California on October 28, 1946.

Bernt served in the U.S. Army so they lived in a number of locations including Missouri, Kansas, Texas, California, and Germany. During those years June worked as a secretary for various government offices while raising two sons. After Bernt’s retirement from the Army they settled in Santa Maria, California, before moving to Gresham, Oregon, and finally to Nampa in 1997.
June was an avid churchgoer and active in the local Presbyterian Church at the various places they lived. She was particularly involved with her church in Gresham where she participated in various volunteer activities such as the Mobile Loaves and Fishes program and sang in the choir. She had many friends at her church in Nampa and greatly enjoyed the social activities. She also loved growing roses, crocheting, needlework, and reading, but the most important part of her life was her family.

June was predeceased by her husband Bernt in 2013; by sisters Mary Beatrice Tustin and Priscilla Faith Caldwell; and by Brother Ernest Raymond Hansen. She is survived by two sons: Leonard Severin and wife Emilie (Rumpf) of Minocqua, Wisconsin and Claud Bernt Carter and wife Deborah (Gould) of San Antonio, Texas; six grandchildren: Leah, Leonard II and wife Jessica, Peter, Kenneth, Matthew, and Jennifer; and two great-granddaughters: Novotny and Karina. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to celebrate June’s life at a Memorial service to be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at First United Presbyterian Church, 400 Lake Lowell Avenue, Nampa, Idaho, with Pastor Aaron Berkowitz officiating. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
