Evelyn is survived by her loving children and their spouses; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, niece, cousins and a sister-in-law.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers at “Family Life Memory Care” and “Signature Hospice” for their love and care of Mom during her last few months, a thank you to Grace Assisted Living staff and Evelyn’s neighbors at Gold Crest community.

A celebration of Evelyn’s life will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017 at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10^th Ave. South, Nampa.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First Church Care House or Signature (XL) Hospice in Evelyn’s name. On January 28, 2017, Evelyn Hope Nelson went home to be with Jesus Christ, our Lord & Savior.  Evelyn was born on her grandparents (John & Eva Mericle) farm in Kuna, Idaho on November 4, 1923 to Orville & Hazelle (Mericle) Busing. 

Evelyn attended Kuna High School where she met the love of her life, Garl Nelson!  They were married while Dad was in the service on February 7, 1942 in Tacoma, WA. They have four children:  Pam (Buzz) Copple, Meridian; Terri (Steve) Anderson, Coeur d’Alene; Jody (Janelle) Nelson, Nampa and Rob (Charlene) Nelson, Boise. 

Evelyn was a great homemaker and worked at many bakeries in Nampa. Even while working outside the home, Evelyn continued to take good care of her family. Evelyn and Garl were wonderful dancers and frequented the Elks with their many friends.  They joined the Good Sam’s Club and enjoyed traveling with their RVing friends, while making time for fun card games.  They loved the Lord and were members of First Church of the Nazarene, Nampa, Idaho.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Garl, of 70 years, a wonderful sister, Patty Whitney and two baby brothers, and her very special friend Letha German.
