William Kennison Rust

William “Bill” Kennison Rust was born in Fort Scott, Kansas, on December 9, 1926 to Boyd Rust and Anna Kennison Rust. Bill died peacefully at age 93, on August 30, 2020 in Nampa, Idaho, shortly after contracting COVID-19.

Bill married Ivy Joyce Emmorey in Anchorage, Alaska on June 29, 1973. They moved to Nampa, Idaho after their retirement. They lived a life of shared joy until she passed in January of 2019. During their retirement they loved to travel, seeing the world and meeting up with friends. Bill was the kindest person you could hope to meet and all that knew him benefitted from his kind and caring nature.

Bill was an amazingly talented craftsman. He used those skills to manage maintenance for US BLM Alaska. He worked for BLM for 22 years and traveled extensively in support of BLM facilities throughout the state. When he was not working he enjoyed working on model airplanes and cars, building furniture, square dancing with Joyce, listening to music and reading. Bill was especially fond of military ships and planes and his first car, a red Buick. He was a First Class Seaman in the Navy during World War ll from 1945-1946. 

Bill and his first wife were blessed with four children: James, Dana, Antoinette (Toni) and Margaret. Bill and Joyce raised Joyce’s boys, Jordan and Loren, from her first marriage. Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce, and his beloved daughter, Margaret. He is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is remembered by his family for his loving and caring nature, and his extraordinary thoughtfulness and kindness.

Bill attended the Church of the Brethren, 11030 Orchard Avenue, Nampa, Idaho. Services are provided by Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave S, Nampa, ID 83651. 208-606-3182.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, alzfdn.org, in memory of Joyce and Bill Rust.
