Wanona Arlene (Bohac) Jensen

June 30, 1931 ~ July 13, 2021 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Tribute

Wanona was born in Nampa, ID, the only child of Arnold and Emily Bohac.  Known as Wanona, Nonie, Grandma Onie, or G.O., she believed in having fun and filled her life with people, places, and activities she enjoyed.  She planned parties and events with relatives and friends.  She dearly loved being a grandmother!  She volunteered at her great-grandson’s school into her 80’s.

Wanona graduated from Nampa High School in 1949.  She married Doug Rehder from Caldwell in 1950, and they had two sons - David and Steven.  The family often moved, living both in OR and CA. She was a devoted mother – read to her sons, served as a den mother, had her sons attend summer school and visit grandparents every summer.  The family attended the Methodist church and loved scouting, camping and fishing together.

After she divorced, she married Don Maebert.  She continued living in Southern California for 30 years.  She and Don made their home in Fallbrook, where they operated an avocado grove, had a pond and two beloved shepherd dogs.  Unable to sit still for too long, she enjoyed square dancing, tole painting, flower arranging, taking classes in word processing, exercise classes, and watching the San Diego Padres.

In 1994, Wanona returned to Idaho to be near her family and married Don Jensen.  The two enjoyed 20 years of adventure. Two days after her 90th birthday and very near the end of her ordeal with Alzheimer’s, she recognized her great-grandchildren and called them by name.

Wanona was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Emily Bohac, and her husband, Don Jensen.  She is survived by her sons Dave Rehder (Laurie) of Boise, and Steve Rehder (LeGay) of Woodacre, CA; 4 grandchildren - Kendra (Hans) Geary, David Rehder, Bradley Rehder and Nicole Rehder; 3 great-grandchildren – Jaimeson, Jaycen and Eleanor; a cousin - Beverly “Jeanie” Overgard.  Graveside services will be at a later time.

The family expresses sincere appreciation and gratitude to the caregivers at Overland Court Memory Care in Boise for their care and compassion throughout her last years. Thanks also to Keystone Healthcare during those same years and to Keystone Hospice in her final days.
