Age 82. Was welcomed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 6, 2017 after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard, and beloved son Samuel. Together with the Lord they raised six children: Timothy, Dr. Jonathan (Pam), Philip (Gretchen), David (Sue), Christine (the late John) Kilps, and Mary (David) Severance. Vera enjoyed each of her 14 grandchildren and is further survived by faithful family and friends. Vera was a faithful wife, mother, and friend. She loved spending time with family and friends. Vera enjoyed a good cup of tea, gardening, reading, learning new things and playing games. She particularly enjoyed a good game of Chinese checkers or Rummikub. Vera was born in Maywood, IL. At age 18 alone, she moved to Milwaukee, WI. She met, married and raised her family there for nearly 60 years. Nearly two years ago she moved to Kuna, Idaho to spend time with family living there. Vera loved the Lord with all her heart. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith and joy of life. She followed Jesus's example with a servant's heart to all she met. Numerous lives were touched by her contagious and unending sense of humor. She always shared countless words of encouragement, scripture, and prayer with a gentle confident smile or a hand-written note. Throughout her various journeys and challenges in this life she knew she was never alone, she had confidence the Lord was always by her side. She stood on His promise that He was her strength and refuge. She gave all praise to her Lord only for his glory. She always went out of her way to help others and be a witness for Jesus Christ. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her! Visitation at First Baptist Church, 10550 S. Howell Ave., Oak Creek on Thursday, December 14th from 5-7 PM. Funeral Service 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to AWC (Alpha Women's Center)
