"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Terry Davis in August of 2023. His absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. Terry, a man of remarkable resilience, journeyed through life with an unwavering spirit. In his early days, Terry was raised by his devoted Aunt Judi, alongside her own children, Danita, Dawn, Dana, Jimmy, Jonny, and Joey. Judi and her husband Tom were happy to take Terry and Brian in as their own and their familial bond ran deep, shaping Terry's character and fortitude. He went on to graduate from Vallejo High School, where he laid the foundation for his boxing journey.
Born on September 02, 1960, Terry embarked on a life that can only be described as extraordinary. His journey began on the football field, where he pursued excellence as a semi-professional player. However, fate had a different path in store for him when a motorcycle accident abruptly ended his promising football career of which he was left with a broken left leg and right ankle. Undeterred by adversity, Terry turned towards the world of boxing, adopting the moniker "THE TERMINATOR."
In August 1983, Terry Davis, a warrior in the making, entered turned pro and began is incredible career. Terry went 9-1-1 as an amateur superheavyweight champion. Eventually, he went 15 and 0 with 1 draw, 15 wins by way of knockout in his first 16 pro fights. With unyielding determination, he faced 41 professional bouts, emerging victorious in 31 of them. His striking prowess was evident, as 24 of his triumphs came by way of knockout, with an astonishing 10 within the first round.
Notably, Terry's journey was not without star-studded moments, as he was once under the management of none other than the legendary Sylvester Stallone. This association propelled him into the upper echelons of the boxing world. Throughout his illustrious career, Terry honed his skills in various corners of the globe, training rigorously in Las Vegas, Florida, and Los Angeles, notably at the renowned Jet Center.
While Terry's boxing career had its share of challenges, including losses to notable encounters with great fighters such as Andrew Golota and Michael Moorer, he always displayed unwavering courage and resilience. Michael Moorer, a three-time heavyweight champion of the world, stood as a testament to the caliber of opponents Terry faced in the ring.
Terry is preceded in death by his dear brother Brian, as well as his beloved parents, Bonnie and Fred Davis. He is survived by his cherished daughter, Briget Davis and his granddaughter Sophia Alicea.
