Tribute

On Tuesday, May 19, 2020, Ted Lee Carrico, loving husband, father, papa, teacher, and friend, went home to be with Jesus at age 62.

Ted was born on April 26, 1958 in Gooding, ID to Don and Verna Jean (Roberts) Carrico. He studied music education in Oregon and had the privilege of teaching music for thirty-seven years in the state of Idaho. On September 22,1979, he married the love of his life, Karleen Rebecca (Becki) Sinclair, and they raised one daughter, Bethany, and two sons, Barton and Benjamin.

His career as an educator began in 1981 in the Orofino school district, teaching band and choir at Timberline high school / middle school. In 1983 he moved to the McCall-Donnelly district, thoroughly enjoying the schools and the mountain life. He moved to Nampa in 1996 and taught at West Middle School, Nampa High School, many elementary schools, and most recently at Lone Star Middle School and Sage Valley Middle School.

Paramount to Ted’s life was his love for his savior, Jesus Christ, and evidence of that faith exuded from him. He was described as kind, gentle, patient, and full of integrity. He loved his family well and deeply impacted the lives of thousands of students over the course of his teaching career.

Ted enjoyed involvement at his church, playing in his jazz quartet, fly fishing on the Owyhee River, golfing, roasting (and drinking) coffee, and camping in the mountains with his family.

Ted was preceded in death by his father, Don Carrico, his mother, Verna Jean (Roberts) Carrico, and his brother, George Carrico. He is survived by his wife, Becki (Sinclair) Carrico, his brother, Rick Carrico, Bethany Harding (Jacob), Bart Carrico (Kristen), Ben Carrico (Brittany), Steven Beukleman, Alliance Irasubiza and twelve grandchildren.

A celebration of Ted’s life will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 10:30 am outdoors near the Brandt Center at Northwest Nazarene University. For the health and safety of all those in attendance, please bring your own chair, practice social distancing, and wear a mask.
