Stephen Michael Stone

June 27, 1951 ~ September 12, 2022 (age 71)

Stephen (Steve) Stone, passed away peacefully at his home on September 12, 2022, at the age of 71, with family by his side.

Steve was born on June 27, 1951 in Washington DC, and grew up in Maryland. As a teenager, he joined the Marines and served our country in the Vietnam War. After his time in the military, Steve began an apprenticeship for plumbing. He graduated in 1980 and worked his way up to becoming a foreman before he retired in 2015. He loved his job and coworkers and they appreciated his hard work and dedication. He supervised many jobs in Washington DC, including work at the Supreme Court and The Pentagon after 9/11.

On December 31, 2001, Steve married his wife, Patricia (Patty) Stone. They enjoyed traveling and took trips to New York City, Washington State, Arizona, Florida, Oregon, Mexico, and the Caribbean. They ended up moving to Washington State, and then to Idaho in 2020, with their daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids. Steve spent the last two years enjoying a peaceful life on a small farm. His favorite place to be was on the riding lawnmower, cutting grass, or sitting and watching all the animals. Steve was an animal lover and animals loved him. He spent a lot of time and money on rescuing stray and sick cats and getting them spayed or neutered.

Steve also had a need for speed. He loved his Harley motorcycle, and was determined to continue riding it even when he started getting sick. In 2020, he bought a Corvette, that he was so proud of. Last year he was able to drive it in a parade, which he loved.

Steve was a complex man. He could be stubborn and hard headed, but he also had a really sweet and giving heart. He would do anything to help anyone.

Steve was preceded in death by his father and mother, William and Elizabeth Stone, his sister, Patty Akers, and first wife, Terri Stone. He is survived by his wife, Patty Stone, children, Steven Stone, Aaron ( Emily) Stone, and Melissa (Bob) Bennett, grandchildren, Christopher Stone, Tiffany Stone, Serena Bennett, Mackenzie Bennett, William Bennett, and Jordy Elrod, brothers, Billy (Cynthia) Stone, and Ronnie Stone, and many nieces and nephews and long time friends.
