Tribute

Sharon Eileen (Welker) Cunningham was born on September 25, 1941 in Nampa, Idaho to Ralph Welker and Margaret (Welker) Hawkins. Sadly after a brief stay in the hospital she passed away on April 11, 2024.

Sharon spent her childhood traveling around the world as a military brat following her stepfather Donald Hawkins (USAF). As his career progressed so did their travels and this began her love of traveling. She always talked about her travels to various warm weather places, even as a small child she didn’t like the cold weather much. She was always ready to travel to any where, any place at any time except the snow.

In 1959 she met and married the love of her life Jack at the Nampa Roller Dome. They married shortly after meeting and their marriage lasted for 45 years until he sadly passed in 2004. She embraced becoming a housewife and mother early in their marriage.  She also loved working along side of him in his commercial fishing business. She was always ready to ride along with him whether it was to scope out new fishing spots or taking fish to markets throughout the Pacific Northwest always making each trip an adventure. She was a fun mom to her two children always ready to play a game, read a book on a trip or do some kind of crafting project. Some of our fondest memories include her helping her daughter make Christmas cookies by reading recipes to her and being her taste tester. She was a very talented florist, making arrangements and over the years she made many wedding bouquets for family and friends. She loved to decorate her house for the holidays and family events and she did so at any chance she could. She and her best friend Carroll spent time together creating and selling beautiful live Christmas wreaths and other arrangements. She had fun going with her son to garage sales and local thrift stores looking for treasures any chance she could. Her time spent with her grandsons were memories she cherished and enjoyed the most. She loved being a grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Otto (Jack) Cunningham and grandson Nicholas Alexander. She leaves behind her daughter Charlotte (Mike) Alexander; Son Richard (Shelly) Cunningham; Grandchildren –Dustin (Cindy) Alexander; Rachael (Brian)Flowers; Shawn Maxon; Joe(Megan)Maxon; Samuel Cunningham and Daniel Cunningham, as well as several great-grandchildren.

A private celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. The family asks in lieu of flowers that you donate to your favorite charity.

Her family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the St. Alphonsus Hospital in Nampa for taking such wonderful care of her and her family during this difficult time.
