Ross D Jones

November 20, 1943 ~ October 2, 2022 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

Ross Dean Jones of Nampa, Idaho, an authentically good man, who revered God and constantly prayed for his people/family, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2022 after having triumphed over many past opportunities to do so throughout his 78 years.

Ross was affectionately referred to in a number of ways throughout his life, namely, ‘dad’, ‘daddy’, ‘big Ross’, ‘honey’, “Papa”, Grandpa, uncle Ross, and “pops”. Every affectionate reference to him prevailed and stuck throughout his life, with much love, as every one of us loved him. Loving him was easy, because he loved each of us. He was a genuine example of God’s love toward people. 1 John 4:19, which says, “We love Him (God) because he first loved us”, comes to mind when we, as his family, friends, and strangers, ponder his steadfast example of the love of God. He loved quickly, easily, and unconditionally. We could think of no better legacy than to live a life that demonstrates the love of God, as described in one of his favorite scriptures (1 Corinthians 13), toward all people as he did. Ross was a son of God in action, declaring God’s wonderful love for people to all who were able to receive. He was a leader in this way to those who knew and loved him; and those who survive him, will never forget his example and leadership in loving with the love of God.

Ross is survived by his wife, Ramona, who he lovingly referred to as “Mona” or “honey”; his children Ross (Rossy) and Lily, Jeremy (Jer) and Cherish, Jacob (Jakey) and Kristen; his grandchildren Zoe, Abigail (Abbi), Huxley, Bodhi, and Isaac (Little man); his brother Mark (Markie); his sisters in-law Dena, Laura, Melody, and Melissa; his brothers in-law Bill, and Lew; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Ross was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Leah; his in-laws Lawrence and Amelia; his brother Bill; his sisters Jackie and Peggy and countless other loved ones.

Everyone who interacted with Ross felt loved by him, and good about themselves. He saw the best in people and never quit on people. All of us would often stop by to simply be close to this good, funny and peaceful man knowing that he was home and most likely reading his Bible, doing a crossword puzzle, or looking out his window to take in his favorite view. Ross was a refueling station for the weary world-torn soul in that he was a source of wisdom, edification, encouragement, and prayer. Ross was also a great source of fun for the whole family and especially for every child and grandchild he had; from his oldest to his youngest (Isaac) who still runs into his room calling for “papa”. Much like his mother, Leah, who preceded him in death, Ross was a prayer warrior for his family and the people he cared for. We take great comfort in knowing that the same God who heard his prayers for his family and friends in life is the same God Who will continue answering them long after his death. God is good; and we are thankful for the time we enjoyed with our “pops”.

With that, as he would often say to us as we left his home after a warm and always profitable visit, “valla con Dios” (go with God) pops. The bright light that you shed upon the best and most important things in life will continue to shine within our hearts for the rest of ours. We will always remember you.

To honor the memory of our dad, husband, grandpa, brother, friend and/or pops we will enjoy some time together at Alsip’s Funeral Chapel located at 404 10th Ave S, Nampa, ID 83651, October 7, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. We will then proceed to the home of Laura Sandidge located at 13040 S Makennas Way, Nampa, ID 83686, for dinner and continued fellowship, celebration and reflection on the life of Ross Jones.

We ask for your prayers and thank you for them. God bless you.
