Tribute

Myrna Lee Cumpton, age 82, moved on to her final resting place on August 31, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.

Myrna was born October 12, 1938 in Nampa, Idaho to Ruby Geneva (Ulrich) and Richard Osborne Taggart.  She grew up on a farm in Canyon County Idaho.  As a child Myrna loved her first pet Lamkin.   She graduated from Nampa High School in 1956. 

Myrna joined the Navy in 1957 where she served as a member of the U.S. Navy medical corps.  She met her husband, Henry Warren Cumpton while they were both serving in the Navy.  Through the years they resided in Illinois, Virginia, and Rhode Island before returning to Nampa.  Once out of the Navy Myrna worked for JC Penney Company and 30 years with the US Postal Service.  While working for the US Postal Service Myrna received many awards and promotions eventually becoming Postmaster in Vale, Oregon.

Myrna liked to read, hunt, fish and play golf among other passions that she passed on to her sons.  She loved flowers, particularly Peonies and she had a passion for giving.  Myrna was a member of Cherry Lane Christian Church.

Myrna is survived by her two sons, Ben (Wendy) and Tom, brothers Dick Taggart (Diane & son, Andy) and John Taggart (Charlene & daughter, Angie and son, Trevor) and three grandchildren, Alyssa, Dylan, and Foster.  Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Warren) and one brother (Dennis).

A service will be held at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel on October 29, 2021, at 11 am.  Following the service, a Military Service will be held for family and close friends at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery at 2 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the American Cancer Society or Susan G. Komen.
