Tribute

Manuel Ervin Grice passed away on Tuesday June 29, 2021. At noon, we lost a very special and important loved one in this community. We were all very blessed to have him in our lives.  Manuel was born on February 25, 1939 and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Arthur and Birdie (Peak) Grice. He loved the blues, he played blues guitar, harmonica, and the saxophone. He loved to dance and sing. He also loved to act in plays at Karcher Mall Can-Act. He worked for many jobs, but his favorite was his time as a custodian for the Nampa School District. Manuel helped anyone, anytime, day or night. He would be there for you, rain or shine.

When Manuel met my mother, Carol Rae Yeager, he never left her side. He honored her every wish, as they belonged to the family of Alcoholics Anonymous together a having around 80 years of collective sobriety. They were the founding members of the Rainbow Recovery Group and members of the Alano Club, the Eagles and enjoyed volunteering for many non-profit organizations. They would go to BINGO, karaoke, and dances. Karaoke was Manuel's favorite thing, and they never missed their Thursday nights at the Eagles. The first song Manuel would sing would be "Lean on Me" and would end the evening with "My Girl" for Carol Rae. He loved her so very deeply.

Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Otwell Grice and Albirdie (Peak) Grice; brothers: Vernon "Pete" Lee Grice, Arthur Otwell Jr. Grice, Benjamin Hammond Warren Grice, Melvin Grice, and Edgar Grice.  He is survived by his wife, Carol Rae (Yeager) Grice; Son, Gerald Walton-Grice; Step-Children: Betty Luna, Beverly Wells, Dan Mego, Steve Mego, Jim Case, many nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand children, and very special friend, Sylvia Burton. He is also survived by his three sisters: Florine Mitchell, Elizabeth Boyd, and Alice Lovett all of Colorado.

Manuel, we will all be missing you so much. You took a giant piece of our hearts with you.

A Celebration of Life, including a potluck and karaoke for Manuel will be held on August 13th, 2021 at 5 pm at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles: 118 11th Ave N.
