Manuel "Manny" B DeSousa

Manuel (Manny) B. DeSousa, 66, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at his home in Middleton, with his wife by his side.

Manny was born to Manuel and Mary (Sanches) DeSousa on March 23, 1955.

As a child Manny moved with his family to the Azores.This was a special time in his life, being able to experience his family's culture. He had fond memories of this time, and he enjoyed sharing them.

He returned with his family to California, and graduated from Santa Clara High School in 1973.

Manuel married Susan Silveira in 1974. They had two daughters: Amanda in 1978 and Adriane    in 1982.

He worked as a sheet metal fabricator for many years, eventually transferring to Boise, Idaho.

Manny married Jodi Nation Hilkey in 1996. They celebrated their 25th anniversary shortly before  his passing.

He continued working at various jobs, retiring from O’Reilly Auto Parts in 2017.

Manny’s favorite place to be was at home. He enjoyed tinkering on cars, doing yard work, watching NASCAR, and hanging out with his cats. He will be remembered for his quick wit and twisted sense of humor.

Manny is survived by his wife Jodi DeSousa of Middleton, Idaho. Sisters: Niveria and her husband Moises DaRosa of Oakdale, CA, and Rosemarie Delgado of Santa Clara, CA. Daughters: Amanda and her husband Tim Reilly of Aptos, CA, and Adriane and her husband Dennis Frost of Watsonville, CA. Step-daughter: Sara Eberhardt and Patrick of Reedsport, OR. Step-son: Tyler and his wife Robyn Hilkey of Sandy, OR. Grandchildren: James and Owen Reilly, Presley and Kenzie Frost, and Emma Hilkey. His cats: Cooper, Squirty, and Blackie.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Manuel and Mary (Sanches) DeSousa and his step-son Jeff Hilkey.

There will be a Memorial Service on December 14, at 5 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, 911 Everett St. Caldwell.

Dress is casual.
