Linda Jane Childers

Linda Jane Childers, 71, of Nampa, Idaho went peacefully with the Lord on Saturday, September 29, 2018.

Linda was born on May 20, 1947 to Darrold and Marjorie Beem. She was raised and educated in Ontario, Oregon where she graduated in 1965. After graduation Linda attended Treasure Valley Community College and Boise State University where she earned her R.N. degree in Nursing in 1969.

Linda married Charles C. Childers while he was on leave from Vietnam, on August 10, 1968. They spent their honeymoon together in McCall, Idaho at the Beem Family Cabin. They spent a wonderful 50 years together just celebrating their 50^th Wedding Anniversary this year. Together they enjoyed their R.V., campground life, and “chasing the salmon” in Riggins, Idaho and Astoria, Oregon. They met many wonderful friends on their adventures. In their R.V. they experienced many cross country trips and enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona. She was a huge Boise State Broncos fan; football season was her favorite time of year. As a season ticket holder she attended most games, home and away, including the Fiesta Bowl. Some of her favorite hobbies in her youth included slalom skiing and boating. Her hobbies most recently included scrapbooking, McCall trips, traveling, cheering on the BSU Broncos, and her love for horses; her Christmas tree contained over 300 horse ornaments.

Linda starting working at Mercy Medical Center in 1969 and retired in 2007; she was involved in over 10,000 births in her 38 year career. To honor her dedication, St. Alphonsus in Nampa dedicated a birthing room in her name in 2014; they referred to it as a “womb with a view” that overlooks the Centennial Golf Course.

Linda is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles C. Childers; children, Ruth (Chad) Nitzel and Charles Scott (Kori) Childers; as well as six wonderful grandchildren.
