Larry Creighton Sasich

June 19, 1944 ~ June 1, 2021 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Tribute

Larry C. Sasich, a longtime resident of Nampa ID and Boise ID before that, passed away on May 10 of this year due to complications from a blockage to his coronary artery. He was 76 years old. Larry was retired after 25+ years of service to the Boise Independent School District.

He was born on June 19, 1944 in Billings, Montana. He graduated from Billings West High School, class of 1962, where he was a strong student and star athlete in 4 sports. His class was the first full graduating class from the ‘new’ High School in town. He went on to attend Arizona State University, graduating with honors in 1966.

He is survived by his son Scott Sasich of Mount Dora, Florida, his sister Joni Sasich-Scalf of Spokane WA, and his brother Phil Sasich of Bremerton WA.

Larry earned an MBA and started his work career as a marketing manager for Shell Oil in Los Angeles. In 1968 he moved with his wife and family to San Jose, California where he took a position as Marketing Director for Microma Digital Watches, a division of Intel Corp. Microma watches were the first to use the revolutionary microprocessor technology developed by Intel’s founders. He later worked for other businesses at the forefront of the new digital age, including I-info Corp, a company in the vanguard of digital photographic technology.

As a teenager, Larry developed what would become a lifelong passion for reptiles, amphibians, other coldblooded creatures, but snakes were his particular interest. His family home was near a sandstone cliff, known to Billings locals as the Rimrocks. As a kid he spent most summer days hiking there and in wild areas beyond and would come home with bull snakes and other local specimens.

In his later years he pursued this interest more fully and is well known among the community of reptile enthusiasts in the Treasure Valley area of Idaho.

His family and friends will deeply miss this kind, interesting and one-of-a-kind man.
