Kenneth Wayne Kostelic

Kenneth (Ken) Wayne Kostelic, age 77, died at his home on November 18, 2021.

He was born November 8, 1944 in Billings, Montana, the son of Frank & Bettina (DiPasquale) Kostelic.

Ken grew up and attended school in Billings.  He spoke fondly of his years in Montana and enjoyed telling stories of his youth. He joined the Marines in 1966 and was honorably discharged in 1972.  He married Cherilyn Schuyler, they had one son, and later divorced.

He moved to Nampa, Idaho where he was the manager of KG Shoe Store in Karcher Mall.  He started a career in real estate and was a real estate broker with Bill Thompson & Co. Realtors starting in 1977.  He partnered with Bill & Sue Thompson to start Phoenix Homes, a residential building company.  Together they designed and built numerous homes in the Treasure Valley. They were partners in several real estate investments until 2018.

Ken was a master finish carpenter, craftsman and contractor.  He could build or fix anything and loved doing it. He helped anyone and everyone when something needed repaired.  He had an extraordinary talent to figure out how things worked and how to fix them when they didn't work.  He spent the past few years working on his dream to restore a 68 Camaro.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and flying. He loved to chat with his sub contractors and sit around with his friends telling stories over a cocktail.

He is survived by his son, Douglas Wayne Kostelic of Meridian, ID;  his sister, Louise (Rick) Merring of Surprise, AZ;  his brother, Donald Kostelic of Billings, Montana; his nieces and nephews Mark Lamey, Mitchell Lamey, Michelle Nadeau, Nora Portis & Bruce Portis.  He was proceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Delores Kostelic Portis Rhodes.

Ken had numerous close friends and his life touched so many people.  He was known as a great guy by all who called him friend, Uncle Ken and KK.  His passing leaves a big hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.  The Thompson family would like to thank Ken for sharing his life with them and his many years of loyalty, friendship & great times.
