Joe Koyama, 93, passed away May 1, 2018.  He was born September 4, 1924 in Nampa and lived in Nampa his entire life.  

He was preceded in death by his father Sashichi and mother Otsu, sisters Marie and Yasuko, brothers Koichi, George and Takashi, his wife Mae and son Randy.  

Joe was born and raised in Nampa Idaho. He graduated from Nampa high school helping with the family business on the farm.  He went into the army and while on leave, he met Mae Morimoto through her brother Frank.  They married in 1949 and made their home in Nampa.  Joe enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, rock hounding and bowling.  He was a very good bowler.  He was awarded the bronze star in 2013 for his service in World War II.

Joe was a 2nd degree black belt in judo, taught judo in the local community, and was a member of the Japanese American Citizen League (JACL).  He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye and enjoyed spending time with this many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

He is survived by his children Gary Koyama, Patty Koyama, Dianne Takahashi, (Glenn), Penny Campbell and Betty Jean Bruns. Joe also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 8, from 5 to 8 PM at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. S., Nampa, ID.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 9, at 11:00 AM at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel.
