Ida Kathleen Gandee

Ida “Kay” (Gray) Gandee of Meridian passed away Thursday, January 23rd, 2020 with family at her assisted living home at Spring Creek, Ustick. Kay was born to Charles Wesley Gray and Dora Alice (Drain) Gray, January 30th, 1924 in Nampa, Idaho. Kay was the baby of 9. She had one sister, Lela, and seven brothers, Frank, Virgil, Loyd, Valdo, John, Earl, and Dee. Kay married Lloyd Gandee April 28, 1946 in Nevada and had two children, Diane and Jay.

Kay worked at Leeds Shoe Store in Calfornia and received an award for top sales in 1966. She loved to travel and took several trips with her sister including one to China and Hawaii. She loved attending the family reunions and spending time with family. She was very active, and loved volunteering and was part of the Century Club and loved attending church and singing in the choir. She was a big BSU fan and enjoyed shopping, playing cards, bingo, and going on outings. She loved when the great, great, great nieces would come visit. Kay was full of spunk and you never had to wonder what she was thinking cause she would always say what ever was on her mind. She loved helping and wanted to do everything herself. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed. 

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and children. 

Survivors include her grandson, David Wever, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 8th, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Spring Creek, Ustick in Meridian. Cremation rites have been accorded with Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, and she will be buried with her sister, Lela, in Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa per her request. We will also Celebrate her life at the Gray Family Reunion July 25th at Chuck and Nancy Grays in Wendell, Idaho.  

The family would like a special Thank You to go to All Care Health and Hospice, Spring Creek Ustick, Kimberly Clark, Ashley Checketts, Lynda Huddleston, and staff plus the wonderful volunteers and Pastor Ken Redford. You all made an impact in her life and she was blessed by knowing all of you.
