As the son of U.S. Navy Warrant Officer, Harold Boatright and wife Donna, Gary lived in several places growing up with his older brother Donald, including San Diego, California, where he was born.
Gary graduated from Jordan High School in Long Beach, California, lettering in track and football. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in Los Angeles while starting a family. He transferred to Nampa in 1972, retiring from the railroad in 2005.
His hobbies included cycling, square dancing, swimming, camping, horseback riding, and traveling, along with antiquing and collecting. Gary would proudly consider himself a regular at the Nampa Senior Center, "Table 10," where he shared and commiserated with many friends over the last 25 years.
He is survived by his daughter Loria and son in law Mike Perez, his two grandsons, Garrett Perez, Coleton Perez and his wife Karen, all from California. Also, sister in law Pat Boatright of Massachusetts and her family.
Memorial service and reception to be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Avenue South, Nampa 83651.
