Evelyn Doris Hewitt (Albright) VanCleef passed away on May 24, 2018 at the age of 98. Evelyn was born in Osceola, Nebraska to Frank Harmon Hewitt and Cora Mae (Heckman) Hewitt on March 19, 1920, on the family farm in the house in which her father was born in 1884.
She attended Cedar View School, graduating from 8th grade. She then attended and graduated from Osceola High in 1938. She worked until she was married in 1939 to Hobert Milton Albright at Grand Island. They farmed in Nebraska and Mr. Albright worked at the Nebraska State Highway Department as Supervisor in North Platte. They moved to Nampa, Idaho, in 1956 where Hobert passed away in 1962.
She worked for Hales Furniture and Braun Studio for many years.
She married James D. VanCleef at Zion Lutheran Church in June 1969. They traveled and belonged to Nampa Sams RV Club and attended Lutheran Brethren Church. Their travels took them all over the US, Canada, Hawaii and Alaska. They loved to play pinochle and other games.
Evelyn enjoyed family get togethers and doing things for others. She enjoyed life to the fullest. Her passion was playing the piano and organ.
She is survived by her four children, Sharon (Jerry) Smith, Gary (Sharon) Albright, Sheila (Robert) Smith and Sharla Edgar; 5 granddaughters; 11 grandchildren, and numerous step grandchildren, step great and step great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, 3 brothers, 2 stepsons, and both husbands.
The family is grateful for the care given to her at the Good Samaritan Society in Boise. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made to that organization at 3115 Sycamore Dr, Boise, ID 83703.
