Dorothy Marie Ernest

Dorothy (Dot) Marie Ernest was born April 29,1926 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to George & Gertie Dossett and passed away on March 17, 2021.

Dot graduated from Nampa High School in 1944, and immediately started nursing school.

Upon graduation, went to work for Dr. Saltzer in Nampa, ID at his original place of practice. Dot was the first nurse to work for Dr. Saltzer.

She married Ike Ernest in September 1953 in Nampa, ID. They had two children, Mark and Molly.

Dot moved on to work at Birds Eye in Nampa, ID as the company’s Head Nurse, where she worked until her retirement in 1991.

Dot became an officer of the Nampa Chapters of TOPS & KOPS. She was a member of KOPS for 25 years, which was quite an accomplishment! She traveled every year to the conventions and collected pins from every one.

Dot loved to travel! She traveled with her husband Ike, and make numerous trips with her sister Carolyn and friend Laura May Merkel…such fond memories. Dot also loved to read and do crossword puzzles.

After retirement, Dot became a member of the Nampa Art Guild. She was a wonderful painter and won numerous 1st and 2nd place ribbons throughout the Treasure Valley.

Dot was preceded in death by her parents George & Gertie, husband Ike, siblings Evelyn Esterline, Bob Dossett, George Dossett, Jim Dossett, and Danny Dossett. She is survived by her son Mark Ernest and daughter Molly (Larry) Johnson, grandsons Derek, Jared, Travis; siblings Carolyn Allen, Lloyd Dossett, and Laura Wallace; numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren
