Bradley G. Hurd

November 4, 1961 ~ April 16, 2023 (age 61) 61 Years Old

Tribute

Bradley “Brad” G. Hurd passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 16, 2023.  Never in our minds or hearts did any think we would be trying to put on paper the life of such an amazing son, brother, dad, Papa, friend, and devoted husband.

Brad was brought into this world in Downey, California on November 4, 1961, to the proud parents of George and Sharon Hurd.  He was one of 5 children and first son.  The family moved to Utah where they continued to work and raise their family until moving to Nampa, in 1985.  Brad followed to Nampa in 1988 where he remained a proud Canyon County resident.

Brad worked at Micron, MCMS and was currently working for Summit Wall Systems.  If you were lucky enough to have had him patch or drywall anything for you, it was a true gift and talent of his and one he took great pride in.  While working at MCMS, Brad met Polly.   The two quickly became friends and married on June 27, 1997.  Their journey together began by blending their family with Brad’s son, Travis, and Polly’s two sons Darin and Jake.  As you can imagine, raising three boys was quite an adventure.

Brad brought to this world a larger-than-life personality.  He was a gentle giant and a protector of his family and friends.  He was a great listener, hard worker, and tremendous care giver to those in need.   His love of fishing and camping took him and his family to the mountains on numerous camping trips, motorcycle riding, hunting trips and just getting away for relaxation with his brother Rod for their annual “guys’ trip.

As their boys grew into men life changed and Brad and Polly became proud grandparents of three remarkable grandchildren, Lillian and Kaylee Wilson, and Carson Hurd.  He also had two bonus grandchildren, Parker, and Emerson (baby cakes) who he gladly gave Pony boy and Pony girl rides to their delight.  Brad was a devoted Papa to his grandchildren and all of them brought him incredible joy and laughter.  It was the simple things for Brad:  Working alongside his mom in the garden, wrestling with Carson until he was sore or attending Lilly and Kaylee’s baseball games, taking care of Polly, grocery shopping trips with Travis, hunting stories with Darin and checking on fishing reports with Jake, or just bringing a famously requested dish to a family gathering.  All brought him such joy and he relished hearing your review of his cooking and baking.   We are all going to miss his famous bean dip.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Polly Hurd and their three children, Darin (Shanel) Wilson, Travis (Amber) Hurd, Jake (Jillian) Wilson.  His parents, George and Sharon Hurd.  Brother Rod (Stacey) Hurd, Kristi (Craig) Hale, Nancy (Windie) Hurd, and Lori Stollar.  Sister In laws, Debra (Brian) Hamilton and Christine (Robert) Demaray.  Many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces as well.  He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Aunt Gayle, Uncle Jerry and an infant niece.

A Party to honor the life of Brad Hurd will be on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. Festivities will be held at the Demaray home 11843 W Dynamite Ln, Kuna, Idaho 83634.   Food and drinks will be provided.   Please bring your lawn chairs and any stories of Brad you would like to share.
