Boyd Dee Schaffer

Boyd Dee Schaffer was born in Nampa, Idaho on May 5,1947 and died October 21,2021 at home. Parents Chris Schaffer and Jesse Lakey Schaffer were parents to Boyd and twin brother Bruce. Boyd attended Southside, Eastside, and Kenwood Elementary schools in Nampa. Central Jr. High and Kuna High school, graduating from Nampa High School in 1966. After graduation, Boyd joined the Army. After completing his service in 1969, he met his future soulmate Cheryl Kay Lester on a blind date. They were married for 51 years and out of this union they had two children, Launa and Lucas. Boyd worked for and retired from the city of Nampa. After retirement, Boyd and Cheri enjoyed traveling, camping and watching their grandchildren play sports. Boyd’s other interests were golfing and “puttering in the yard.” He is proceeded in death by his parents and brothers Carl Schaffer, Eldon and Darwin Steffenhagen, sister Bonnie Hoydal and Terry Lester, his golfing partner/ brother in law. He is survived by his wife Cheri, his brothers Bruce (Shelly) Schaffer and Clifford Schaffer, daughter Launa and son Lucas (Mary). He also had the greatest joy in his life, four grandchildren, Isabell, Emma, Lucille and Edward Boyd. He was special to his family and will be greatly missed by them. Graveside services will be held on November 19th at 10:00 am, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery located at 10100 N. Horseshoe Bend Road in Boise, ID.
