Barbara Ann Howe

Meridian, Idaho - Barbara Ann Howe passed away on March 10, 2023 surrounded by family. Barbara was born in British Columbia Canada on June 17, 1941 to Frank and Hilda Gormley. She had four brothers (Frank, Bruce, George, and Terry) and one sister (Diana).

At the age of 17 she met the love her life Frank Howe. Not long after dating they were married on November 8, 1958. They were happily married for 62 wonderful years. Together they had four beautiful children Cindy (Gaylan) Howe-Coop of Redding, CA, Bobby (Sheryl) Howe of Nampa, ID, Teresa Ferrington (Robin) of Redding, CA, and Scott (Lisa) Howe of Meridian, ID. She leaves behind a loving family of 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; oh how she loved all of her kids!

Her personal career involved raising her four children while Frank was away at sea. Her professional career began when her children were grown and they settled down in Port Orchard, WA, where she worked for 15 years at the United States Postal Service. One of her cherished moments was becoming an American citizen in 1977. Barbara loved to travel, especially when it came to cruising. Frank and Barbara cruised from Alaska to the Panama Canal, in total they went on 17 cruises. On several of their cruises they took their grandchildren for their 13th birthdays.

In her later years after retirement, Frank and Barbara moved to Nampa, ID. They spent most of their time at the Nampa Elks Lodge volunteering and spending many evenings with friends. Barbara lovingly cared for her husband in his final years. After Frank’s passing, she filled her time loving on her two dogs Pepper and Dina, and feeding the neighborhood birds. She spent countless afternoons at the Meridian Senior Center having lunch with her many friends. Barbara’s favorite activity was playing Bingo and you could almost always count on her winning big! Barbara is survived by many friends and family members.

Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday May 20, 2023 from 11 am to 2 pm at the Nampa Elks Lodge (1116 1st St S, Nampa, ID 83651).
