Tony Berg was born on September 3, 1934 in Rupert, Idaho to Anthony L. “Tony” & Lena Berg.
At the young age of three months, the family moved to a farm in Nampa, Idaho. They farmed until 1949 and then moved to town. Tony attended Nampa High School, graduating in 1952. After graduation, he then enlisted in the US Navy. His time spent in the US Navy was in San Diego and Hawaii during the Korean War. He was honorable discharged as a 2nd class officer in 1956. He worked for Hood Construction from 1957 until he retired in 1989. He was a member of the Laborers Local Union #434.
On June 20, 1958, he married Shirley Flisher at the First United Methodist Church. They spent all of their married life in Nampa, ID. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2018.
Tony loved to garden and maintain their acreage south of Nampa. He loved to fish and watch all kinds of sports. He always looked forward to the annual salmon fishing trip to La Push, WA, with his family. He especially enjoyed attending his children and grand children’s school and sporting events. He also attended many BSU games with this son, Brian.
Tony leaves behind two children, Brenda (Jim) & Brian. His three grandchildren: Tony “A.J.”, Amanda (Gage), Jessica; his three great grandchildren: Paisley, Bailee and Paxton; sister Susan Jensen, brother-in-law Curtis Flisher (Inez), sister-in-law Lynda Montgomery and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dad’s hospice team and caregivers for all their love and special care they gave to him.
A memorial service will be held at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel in Nampa on March 5, 2021 at 3:00PM
