Ralph Hoseley passed away peacefully November 13, 2017, at the age of 85, at St. Alphonsus Regional Hospital of Boise as the result of a long battle with various physical ailments.  Services will be held December 16,  2017 at 10:00 AM at Morris Hill Cemetery in Boise.  A remembrance will follow the service at the home of his son Jeffrey, in Meridian.

He was born in Winnemucca, Nevada on September 25, 1932, to Vada (Boyd) Hoseley and Rex Hoseley.  He was the oldest of three brothers who spent their childhoods moving around the Pacific Northwest.  Eventually graduating from Grants Pass High School, Ralph attended Washington State University, where his independence and charm found him with the opportunity to join the Coast Guard for which he served from 1952 – 1955.  During his duty, he met the most important person in his life, Delores Yvonne Henderson. Shortly after his honorable discharge, they were married on May 14, 1955 in Spokane, Washington.

Being older and wiser, Ralph returned to Idaho State University and later transferred to Washington State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  After college, Ralph began a long career with Consolidated Freightways.  His career took him from the docks to the corporate office, travelling across the country twice.  He also found time to start a family and was a wonderful father to his two sons, Craig and Jeffrey.  As a father he ran the gambit of coach, helicopter parent, and role model. After his sons moved away, and a long career with CF, Ralph retired in 1990 and returned to an area from his childhood, Boise, Idaho.

In his retirement, he found himself almost busier than during his career.  He and Dee traveled some, but also became great ambassadors for the state of Idaho, where they often were hosting family and friends from out of town.  He also took classes and earned the title of Master Gardner from the University of Idaho Agriculture Extension program.  He volunteered with Trout Unlimited and helped the Boise Police Department help keep children safe with an identification project.  He was an avid golfer, loved to fish, and was always trying new and exotic recipes in the kitchen.  He looked forward to time spent on the deck watching the ducks and geese on the creek behind his home.  On top of all that, he was also a devoted supporter to Boise State Athletics (even when the BAA ruffled his feathers), as well as the arts as seen at the Morrison Center and the Shakespeare Festival.  Ralph filled his life with wonderful experiences, with great friends, and family.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Vada and Rex, and his youngest brother, Rance.  Ralph is survived by his wife, Delores; brother Rex of Florida; his two sons, Craig and Jeffrey, both of Idaho and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  The family would like to thank the numerous medical professionals at DaVita, Life Care Center of Boise, St Als, and St Lukes.  Ralph was a personality that you didn’t forget.  He possessed a sense of responsibility, a sense of pride, and a caring nature.  We are sorry to see him gone, but we are at peace knowing that he will no longer have to face his physical battles.
