Philip L. Baker, 86, of Nampa, Idaho passed away March 7, 2017 at the Trinity Care Center after a long illness with his family by his side. He was born August 26, 1930 in Lusk, Wyoming to Howard and Helen Baker. To this union two sons were born, Philip and later his brother Larry. The family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho during the Great Depression and then to Burns, Oregon when Philip was eleven years old. After high school he served in the U.S. Navy on the destroyer, Frank Knox, and continued in the Naval Reserve for six years. He then worked at Finley’s Market and the Edward Hines Lumber Mill until moving to Twin Falls, in 1951. Philip and Dorothy were married in 1952. At Independent Meat Company he was a meat cutter and later became the shipping floor foreman. In 1965 Philip and his spouse, Dorothy, moved to San Jose, California where he worked at Dick’s Super Market. In 1967 the family moved to Nampa and purchased the Arctic Circle Drive-in until his retirement and sale of the restaurant in 1996. He and Dorothy divorced in 1973.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Sandra Trujillo. He is survived by his three sons, Randy, Dan, and Marty of Nampa along with his brother Larry (Jan) of Gresham, Oregon and his ex-wife, Dorothy also of Nampa.

Grandchildren, Eric (Tashia), Shantell (Darek), Natalie, Jamie, Daniel, Justin, Brandee, and Jonathan, Jr. and Great Grandchildren, Peyten, Teagan, Lily, Leila, Kiyah, Karter, Karmeron, Braden, Elijah, Gabriel, Joey, Michael, Tennisen, Emmit, Kennedee, along with one Great Great Grandchild,Charlotte.

In his younger years, Philip loved to fish and hunt but gave up many of his pursuits as he worked nearly 30 years in the Arctic Circle sometimes six to seven days each week. He will be remembered for his very strong Christian faith and love of the Lord. He was a member of the Stone House Church for many years and supported their mission. The family would like to thank Abode Hospice for their loving care during his last days and the caregivers at Trinity Care Center.
