Janice Annette Weil went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 12 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.  She was very brave and never lost her quick wit. 

Janice was born on January 1, 1938 in Kansas City, MO to Thomas Garrett and Wilma (Carver) Garrett.  She grew up in Kansas City with her younger sisters, Charlotte and Karen.  She accepted Jesus into her heart at Chelsea Baptist Church as a young girl.  Janice enjoyed her art classes and her dream was to be a greeting card designer.  When she was in high school, her family moved to Portland, OR where she graduated and met her future husband Ronald Weil.  They were married on June 12, 1956.  They had two sons, David and Jason.  In 1970, they moved the family to Ontario, OR where Ron was a district manager for Farm Bureau and the lived on a small sheep ranch.  Ron and Jan took Mert Thayer into their home and raised him as their own.  Mert refers to himself as “the 5th Weil”. 

Jan was a homemaker when her sons were young and later worked in advertising sales.  Ron & Jan enjoyed their cabin in Donnelly for many years and Jan’s love for children led her to work in the day care at Brundage Mountain and as a bus driver for WICAP Head Start.  She was later promoted to Transportation Coordinator. 

In 1997, Ron suffered a stroke and Jan selflessly cared for him for 14 years until his death in 2011. 

She is survived by her sister, Charlotte (Ray); her sons David and Jason (Lisa),  Mert (Darcy) Thayer; her grandchildren, Amanda (Matthew) Matlock, Joshua Weil and their mother Kathy MeGee Weil, Jake (Tracy) Weil and Matthew Weil (Hannah); great-grandchildren, Desmund, Albreigh and Avery Matlock.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 5-7 PM at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave S., Nampa, ID 83651.  A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, October 20 at 11 AM at the funeral chapel.
