Garry R Nelson

Garry Ray Nelson, age 84, passed away on April 18, 2024, in his hometown of Nampa, Idaho. Born on April 22nd, 1939, in Nampa, he was the son of Ada Marie Miller and Darrold Reginold Nelson.

Garry attended Nampa schools and was later drafted by the United States Navy.  After being honorably discharged Garry returned to his hometown and became a highly successful tire sales representative.  Garry’s hard work and ambition did not go unnoticed; he received multiple recognitions for his outstanding performances and would later retire as a manager at Wholesale Tire.

In 1960, Garry married his beloved wife, Andrea Lee Loper, and together they raised three children: Garry Nelson, Lance Nelson and Angela Nelson.  Garry was a devoted husband and father, and his family was the cornerstone of his life.

Garry enjoyed retreats to his cabin in Donnelly, Idaho, he took pride in landscaping and gardening at his residence in Nampa, and he held a special place in his heart for his four legged companion Rascal.  Garry was known for his quick wit and love for storytelling.

Garry is preceded in death by his parents and loving wife Andrea Nelson.  Garry is survived by his two sons; Garry Nelson and Lance Nelson, daughter; Angela Nelson; brother; Kenny Nelson; sister Garldine Rudisile; ten grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.

A service to honor Garry’s life will be held on May 28th, 2024, at 11:00am at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, located at 10100 Horeshoe Bend Rd., Boise, Idaho.  Following the service family and friends are welcome to gather at Garry’s Nampa residence to share memories and celebrate Garry’s life.

Garry Ray Nelson will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, and friend. His stories, wisdom, and the warmth of his company will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
