Dorothy D. Wootton, 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30, 2017 due to complications of Alzheimer’s.  She is now in the loving arms of Jesus with her beloved husband, Kermit, of 47 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.G. Downing.  Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Thomas Kermit (Sharon) Wootton of Norton Shore, Michigan and James Richard (Terrie) Wootton of Melba, Idaho and her two granddaughters, Reba Allison and Amanda Torkelson.
Kermit and Dorothy were married June 8th, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio. They then moved to Camp Forrest in Tennessee while Kermit completed his OCS.  After the end of WWII, they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, then later to Birmingham, Michigan, where they raised their two sons.  After their sons were grown, they moved to Walled Lake, Michigan where they loved to entertain their many friends by the lake.
Dorothy was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio where she loved to entertain family and friends.  She also enjoyed going to the movies, putting together puzzles, playing the ukulele and doing embroidery. Along with her husband, she enjoyed playing tennis. Dorothy and Kermit were active in the local Presbyterian Church in Birmingham and later in Walled Lake.  Dorothy was an avid reader and regularly volunteered to help out at the local library.  She stayed active by doing water aerobics and traveling.  Dorothy always kept in touch with her friends in Michigan and Ohio.
Toward the later years of her life, she moved to Melba, Idaho to be with her youngest son Jim and his wife Terrie.

There will be a private ceremony at home with friends and family.
