Denice Ruth Burkey, 69 years old of Nampa, Idaho passed away Monday, March 20th at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center Boise. Denice lived her life trying to help everyone she could. Her hard-working attitude was forged in her youth on the family farm. There she gained a softheartedness for life, especially animals. She lived out her compassion through work as a CNA at Mercy Medical Center in Nampa for thirteen years. She later worked as a Direct Caregiver at the Idaho State School and Hospital, where she retired after 26 years. Denice always found time for her children and her animals, forming a special bond with each. Denice loved arts and crafts, especially crochet. She gave away most of her work to family, friends and those in need. Denice is survived by her beloved husband Paul Burkey, daughter Carol Smith, sons Dale Beverlin, John Burkey, David Burkey, Jason Burkey, her step-son Edward Burkey, brother Marlin Hill, and many grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Burnal and Mary Hill, and her granddaughter Jennifer Burkey. Graveside services will be held at Koherlawn Cemetery on Monday, March 27th at 10:30 AM. A gathering for those who wish to attend will be announced at a later time.
