Christine Elizabeth Whitney, of Nampa, passed away on May 18, 2017.  She was born October 6, 1922 in Collinsville, Oklahoma to Harve and Ruby Hendrix.  The family moved to Nampa in 1938.  She married Wesley Whitney on May 26, 1939.  They lived in Nampa until being transferred to Pocatello with the Union Pacific Railroad.  From there they were once again transferred, this time to Council Bluffs, Iowa. One final transfer was to Tucson, Arizona.  After Wesley’s passing in 1976, Christine came back to Nampa to be closer to her family.

She loved spring time, always anxious to see her magnolia trees in bloom.  One of her great joys was to sit on her patio to enjoy all her flowers, watch the hummingbirds and feed the birds and squirrels in her back yard.  Above all, she loved being with her family.  You couldn’t leave her house without her asking if she could fix you something to eat.

Christine is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; her parents; all her siblings and her son, Lester Whitney.  She is survived by her daughter, Lola Nydegger of Nampa, ID; daughter-in-law, Cora Whitney of Kuna, ID; grandchildren Scott (Candice) Nydegger of Meridian, ID, Shawn (Monica) Nydegger of Boise, ID, John (Cameron) Whitney of Caldwell, ID, Blaine White of Clarkston, WA, Michelle White of Homedale, ID and Cheri White of Boise, ID; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Von Flue and the nursing staff at St. Alphonsus for the care and compassion which Mom received during her stay at the hospital.

A viewing will be held at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Avenue South, Nampa on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 4:00 PM to 4:30 PM.  Graveside services will be at Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa on Friday, May 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM.
