Our sweet mother passed peacefully into eternal rest on January 30, 2018, at the age of 85.  Audrey was born February 16th, 1932, the fifth daughter of seven children to Alexander and Grace Sample, in Trinidad, Colorado.  She was raised on a family ranch outside of Walsenburg, Colorado, where she found her lover for horses and gardening. 

She attended Northwest Nazarene College, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  She taught children for over 20 years, in a variety of venues from two room schoolhouses to multi-building school systems.  She continued her career in education as a secretary at Northwest Nazarene College until her retirement in 1996.

In 1951 she married Pastor George Pfenninger and became a kind and patient mother to five children.  She will be remembered by her friends as an outstanding horsewoman and gardener.  She never met a horse or tomato plant she didn’t love and her neighbors were never short of fresh produce.  She was a long time member of the American Quarter Horse  Association. 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George; son Timothy; sisters Corrine, Imogene, Elizabeth and brother Alexander.  She is survived by her sisters, Joanne and Eleanor; her sons, Theodore, Thomas (Gigi) and Bruce (Stacie); her daughter, Katrina Yoder (Drew) and her grandson, Andrew.

Audrey lived a quiet life of service as a preacher’s wife, a loving friend and a servant of her Savior, Jesus Christ.  Her bright eyes and kind smile will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Services will be held on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Avenue South Nampa, ID 83651 with burial to follow at Kohlerlawn Cemetery – In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of your choice. Audrey's family would like to extend their heart felt appreciation to the staff at Spring Creek memory care and Doctor's Hospice for their gentle and thoughtful care of Audrey in her final days.
