Virginia Woodruff took her Lord and Savior by the hand in the early hours of Monday, April 7, 2014.  She was born September 13, 1923 on a farm along the shores of Lake Lowell.  She attended the Lone Star School and graduated from Nampa High School in 1942.  Virginia accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age, which greatly influenced her entire life.

Shortly after graduation from high school she married Joyce E. Woodruff on June 8, 1942. They lived a short time in Nampa while Joyce (Woody) worked for the railroad. A daughter, Beverly was born into this union.  Joyce and Virginia moved to Mountain Home when they were needed to work the Woodruff Homestead. There she was thrust into becoming a farmer’s wife and cooking for a houseful of farm workers during hay season.  After three years they sold the farm due to health issues and moved back to Nampa where they spent the rest of their lives.

Virginia worked for Kings Packing Co., Crookham Co., and spent many years working for Birdseye during the spinach and lima bean harvests.

Joyce and Virginia were members of Calvary Baptist Church where they were youth leaders for a few years.  Later they joined Berean Baptist Church that became Hope Baptist Church where Virginia always took part in the missionary circles rolling bandages, stitching quilts and using her musical talents in choirs or playing the piano.  She loved textile painting and later reading and word search puzzles.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband Joyce, and parents Theodore and Hessie Cline.  Surviving is daughter Beverly (James) Holcomb, grandson Mark (Amy) Holcomb and great-granddaughter Grace of Wilmington, NC, and grandson Timothy (Morline) Holcomb and great-granddaughter LaTesha Cook of Lake Orion, MI.

A special thank you for the loving care and compassion by the staff at Streamside Assisted Living and Legacy Hospice. A private burial service will be held on Friday at Koherlawn Cemetery, and a memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 12 at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. So., Nampa.
