After a four year battle with lymphoma, Kenneth Lloyd Morrow, 74, of Nampa, passed away April 5, 2014, peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Kenneth was born April 24, 1939, in Boise, Idaho, the only child Katherine J. Schey and Lloyd Morrow, and grew up living in Boise, Cascade, and Nampa, Idaho, as well as in Anchorage, Alaska. During his years growing up in the Treasure Valley, he was surrounded by many aunts and uncles who looked after him like a son.  Ken graduated from Nampa High School in 1958;  then went on to Idaho State College to earn his Airframe and Powerplant (A & P) aircraft mechanic license and private pilot's license in 1961.  From 1962 – 1964 Ken served in the Army Aviation Division in Germany, returning in 1964 to make Nampa his permanent home.  Later in 1965 Ken earned his aircraft inspection authorization certification from the FAA.

General aviation was both a personal and professional passion of Ken's.  His aviation career spanned 55 years, including 34 years as an A & P aircraft mechanic and chief aircraft inspector for Boise Cascade Corporation's Aviation Division.  In his early 20s Ken partnered with friend to purchase his first airplane, an Aeronica Champ, which he co-owned until 1968.  In 1979, Ken purchased his second plane, a salvaged, wrecked 1952 Cessna 170B, which he spent 8 years painstakingly rebuilding and upgrading.  Finally in 1987 he was able to fly his beautifully restored yellow Cessna, taxiing her from behind his house, down the road to the neighbor’s alfalfa field for take off.
In 1967 Kenneth married JoAnn Churruca of Marsing, Idaho.  Together they raised a family in Nampa, residing in a home and managing a 55-acre farm previously owned by Ken's late aunt & uncle.

Ken was a man who loved working on planes, being outdoors—hunting & fishing, and flying the Idaho back country.  He made 6 round-trip flights to Alaska in his Cessna. After retiring in 1999 he continued working to keep airplanes from falling out of the sky.  He was a life-long, active and contributing member of the Idaho Aviation Association and The International Cessna 170 Association.   He was also deeply committed to his family.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Helen Hobbs, step-brothers, and aunts and uncles.  He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; son, Joe Morrow of Nampa; daughter Katherine Morrow of Portland, Oregon; and by cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial plans include: a small gathering Tuesday, April 22, 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Alsip and Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. South, Nampa,  followed by a prayer vigil with Rosary at 7:00 p.m.  A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 23, 3:30 p.m  at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 510 West Roosevelt, Nampa. Also, all friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Potluck, April 23, 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Warhawk Air Museum located at the Nampa Airport, 102 Municipal Way.

Flowers can be sent to Alsip Funeral Chapel in Nampa, or in lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Luke's Health Foundation–“MSTI Patient Assistance Fund.”
