On the afternoon of April 3, 2014, Guy passed away peacefully at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Nampa, Idaho, surrounded by his family. He was 87 years young.

Guy was born in San Diego, California, on November 7, 1926 to Hattie and Clarence Sr. Pounds. Guy was one of 7 children, sisters Jean (Donason), Margie (Briggs), Dorothy (Malone) and brothers Clarence, Lawrence and Grover.

He attended school in San Diego and went on to serve his county, in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a true patriot and loved his country.

After coming home from the service he and his best friend and brother-in-law, Mickey Briggs, earned their pilot’s license thru the GI Bill and both enjoyed many years of dare devil flying together.

He married Elaine I. Briggs in Twin Falls in 1947 and had two children a son Dennis Guy, born in 1950 and a daughter Tamie Sue born in 1958.

During his younger years, he worked for Ottis Elevator and JH Wise & Sons Const. in Boise and later many years as a mechanic for Hyster Corp. first in Boise and later retiring from the company in California.

After retiring from Hyster, he met and married Ethel. They together, worked on the Ponderosa Ranch in Nevada where he drove the chuck wagon and was the mustache handled bar tender in the saloon.  He really fit the part well!

They returned to Idaho in 1995 and made their home in Nampa where he could have some space to plant a garden and have some chickens.  His garden was beautiful and he loved to share all of the fruits and vegetables that he grew.

He enjoyed canning and making horseradish which he brought to the family’s “Christmas in July” gathering.  Guy also enjoyed RVing, fishing, golfing and Sunday barbeques with Family and Friends.

During retirement he had a job landscaping at Cherry Lane Golf Course (Lakeview) in Meridian which he enjoyed immensely. He also enjoyed driving carts at the Western Idaho Fair for a few years, and conducted blood runs for the Dept. of Agriculture.

Guy is survived by his wife and soul mate Ethel Pounds, Daughter Tamie (Brian) Klemann, Granddaughter Mandy (Aaron) Stubblefield and Great grandchildren Brody and Brooklyn. Guy also has numerous Nieces and Nephews, Echo, Vickie, Mike, Mark, and Mitch Briggs who affectionately referred to him as “Knuckle Harold”.  Also by his extended family, a bother-in-law Pete (John) Allmon, two step-daughters, Mary and Susie and several grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his son.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 11 at 10:30 am at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, 404 10th Ave. So., Nampa.

Fisherman’s Prayer: God grant that I may live to fish for another shining day, but when my final cast is made I then most humbly pray, when nestled in your landing net as I lay peacefully asleep, you’ll smile at me and judge that I’m “good enough to keep.”

You are a keeper, Dad. We will love and miss you dearly and hold you tight within our hearts.
